Tip Tuesday "The Undershirt"

It’s easy to think about the top layer of clothing, but don’t forget the undershirt can be just as important. The collar should be straight and NOT stretched out, frayed or ripped. And if you choose a button up shirt in a darker color, consider a darker undershirt too.

Retouching a portrait should still look natural

With all the filters and automatic editing software on our phones these days, we feel even more strongly now, that portrait retouching should be as natural as possible. Just because something can be done, doesn’t mean it should be done. While some photographers may automatically widen eyes, arch eyebrows, straighten teeth and thin body parts, we want our portraits to reflect the true beauty of the individual.

Yearbook photos will be taken at RJHS

Every Senior must be photographed by us for the portrait to be used in the 2019 RJHS yearbook.  A specific background has been selected for uniformity.  There is still the opportunity to be photographed at our studio including a full senior portrait experience with multiple outfits and outdoor portraits at a discounted price.  For those of you just needing the yearbook photo, you will be scheduled a time in September or October while our photographer is there at the school.  Boys must wear a suit and girls in Mass attire from the waist up.

Senior Portraits and the Yearbook Photo

Schools throughout the Denver Metro area have specific requirements for senior portraits to be submitted into the yearbook.  For example:

The yearbook image must be on a specific indoor studio portrait background for all Regis Jesuit students.  Seniors benefit by coming to our studio to get the yearbook photo taken with more time & attention to detail, plus they can take advantage of our exclusive outdoor studio at our same Denver location.  We have sessions that include multiple outfits too.

On the other hand, Overland High School requires greenery in the background.  Because our outdoor studio has lots of natural greenery, we can provide many options and expressions to choose from.  Yet if graffiti or a more industrial look fits their style to be displayed in the home, we can also accomplish that during the same session.

Other specifics that vary from school to school is how the image is cropped, sized, and how it's delivered to the school.  This process is something we have taken seriously for over 60 years.  That's why we have been a trusted portrait studio by the high schools from the age of negatives through to digital.  Yearbook advisors know that images coming from our studio will meet their requirements, will have amazing color and quality and will be delivered ON-TIME!

Sports gear is a great addition to a Deluxe Senior Portrait Experience

When selecting outfits for senior portraits we recommend that both student and parent choose something they like.  Mom may want something a bit more formal where as the senior may like a more casual look.  But don't forget about sports gear.  Chances are this is how you have seen your son or daughter throughout their childhood.  The vision of their uniform may bring back memories of all the practices, games, blood, sweat and tears.  The dedication that not only they had towards their sport, but the dedication you had towards their interests will forever be remembered.

Portraits: Paying attention to detail

Portraits require attention to detail.  It's not just about the lighting, both on the subject and on the background, but the positioning of the subject, choice of background and the details in the clothing.  To see a clip of the photographer working with Jack to capture this image, find SeniorPix Bettinger on Facebook.  Dan worked with Jack to get a variety of expressions to get one that Jack liked the best.
