What to do about glasses

The most common issue with glasses is the glare.  But if you wear glasses every day, then you should wear them for your senior portraits.  To avoid these issues we ask that you remove the lenses before your session.  Or if you prefer, ask your optometrist to borrow a pair of empty frames.  Several mail order glasses sites will loan you up to three free frames to try (cc required but no purchase necessary). You will still look like you, just without the glare.

Wear Long Sleeves

Whether you think your arms look too skinny or too big, choosing a shirt with a sleeve at least to the elbow will help regardless.  And wearing a longer sleeve will also focus the attention on your face instead of your arms. This image would have looked so much different if she was wearing a tank top.

Choose Patterns Wisely

If you prefer a shirt or dress with a pattern, then opt for a smaller print as well as tone on tone for the best portrait look. Your favorite shirt in a tropical bird print may look fantastic on the hanger, but seeing yourself in a photograph will make you sing a different tune.  Steer clear of any print that’s busy or cutesy as they will just end up distracting from your face and making you look wider then you are.  Especially stripes!

Makeup, Hair & Nails

Although we retouch every image you purchase, a good make-up job can enhance your natural beauty. We recommend Blo Cherry Hills, located very close to our studio in the Happy Canyon Shopping Center on Hampden. Natalie’s make-up was flawless for her Senior Portraits. Blo also offers hair styling and nails. Both are important details to think about when preparing for your photo shoot.
